Introduction to Zen Practice
Please arrive at 6:20 for class. Join the group at 7 pm for Zen practice.
Come to a free monthly Introduction to Zen Practice. In this 30-minute relaxed instruction, taught by Sensei Martine Taikai, you will learn Zen forms and be able to ask questions about bowing, walking meditation, what the bell does, meditation postures, what to do with your eyes, hands and what chanting is about.
You can try out a bench, cushion or chair and learn proper sitting techniques, as well as receive a brief history of Soto Zen and Joyful Mind Zen Community and go home with a handout on how to start a home practice. Zen practice helps us learn to be in the world with wisdom and compassion.
After the class, join the group for half hour of meditation and walking meditation, or stay until 8:30. We are a welcoming group. Bring questions.
Wear comfortable clothes.
