Silent retreat includes meditation, mindful movement, chanting, mindful eating, dharma teaching and meeting with the teacher. For many practitioners, single day retreats help rekindle the depth of zazen and restore harmony between body, heart and mind.
Zen retreats are suitable for beginners who feel able to sustain a number of 25 minute zazen periods during the day.Sangha members in community are invited to join our summer retreat in the mountains of West Virginia, about 90 minutes drive from Rockville, MD.
This will be held Rolling Ridge Retreat Center on 400 acres of woods and streams near the Shenandoah mountains and
Appalachian Trail. We will be doing Zazen morning and evening, with silent walking and hikes, shared meals and cooking, and times for sharing and community. We will keep the afternoon available for free quiet time, hiking, stream walking, art or reflection. There are some private rooms, some shared rooms, sleeping bag space in the living room, and camping available.
The cost will be around $100-$125 for the entire weekend; Sangha members will share in bringing potluck and cleaning and serving food.
More details later.
