This is not a sesshin but is a time to be with friends from Joyful Mind Sangha. This will involve periods of zazen morning and evening, as well as work practice, sharing, Zen talks Q&A, hiking trails, arts, music and enjoying nature. Priority registration to existing Sangha members.
This will be held at Rolling Ridge Retreat Center on 400 acres of woods and streams near the Shenandoah mountains and
Appalachian Trail. We will be doing Zazen morning and evening, with option for silent (or not) walking and hikes, shared meals and cooking, and times for sharing and community. We will keep the afternoon freeform whether you want quiet reflection, hikes with others, doing arts. There is a chance of a campfire and singing (if someone brings music) with benches around to look at the stars. There are some private rooms, some shared rooms, sleeping bag space in the living room, and camping available.
Walking distance to the China Folk house, waterfalls, Shenandoah River, swimming holes. Half an hour from Charlestown, WV. Ninety-minute drive from Rockville, MD.
The cost will be $60-120 for the entire weekend depending on accommodations; Sangha members will share in bringing and serving food and cleaning. Bring your own linens. Blankets and pillows provided. Retreat center has A/C. Shared bathrooms. No wifi, some cell service.
Fees:
Camping (with use of shower/bathrooms) or sleeping bag in living room $60; Shared room with one person $75; private room $120.
Registration opens June 1.
